Bioware recently released this combat walkthrough video that gives a glimpse of Dragon Age 2 in action.
Mike Laidlaw, lead designer for the game, gives a brief overview of the different approaches you can take to combat. You can play in real time as an action RPG, or you can take the strategic pause-and-play approach.
